• I keep hearing about community fees, what are they?
   

   

  Community fees are payable to the Community of Owners, usually by direct debit on a quarterly basis.
  
  They usually cover all costs relating to the external fabric and upkeep of communal areas, e.g. pools, gardens, paths, staircases, external painting, security etc. Exact budgets are discussed and agreed at AGMs, chaired by an elected president. Attendance is not compulsory, as votes can be registered by proxy.

• Can Non-residents buy property in Spain?

• How do I obtain a mortgage in Spain?
   

   

  It is very straight forward to obtain a mortgage in Spain especially as more and more banks speak English. You need to make sure that you have originals of all documents such as your passport, driving licence, proof of income (three months´ payslips, latest P60s) – copies of all of these will be taken by the mortgage provider.

• What is an N.I.E?
   

   

  This is a Spanish document that you need to attain before you can purchase a home or a car etc. It is very easy to obtain but you must be able to present yourself, with photos at the police station – we of course can guide you through this process.
